The operation took place in Mahalakshmi Nagar, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Mahalingapuram Police Station in Pollachi.

Local residents alerted the police about suspicious activities and an unusual influx of visitors to a house owned by one Venkatachalam in Mahalakshmi Nagar. Acting on this tip-off, the police kept the location under close surveillance. During a sudden inspection, they discovered an ongoing gambling operation involving high-stakes betting.
