Two Arrested for Possessing Ganja Near Periya Thadagam Area in Coimbatore

On July 13, Thadagam police arrested two individuals from Madurai for possessing 1.1 kg of ganja near Periya Thadagam area in Coimbatore. The suspects were caught based on a tip-off about ganja sales in the region.



Coimbatore: The Thadagam police station in Coimbatore received information about ganja being brought for sale in their jurisdiction. Acting on this tip-off, the police conducted a raid near the Periya Thadagam area on July 13.

During the operation, the police apprehended two individuals who were found in possession of ganja intended for sale. The suspects were identified as Praveen Kumar (22), son of Minnal Veeran, and Karuppuraja (24), son of Selva Kannan, both hailing from Madurai district. The police seized 1 kilogram and 100 grams of ganja from their possession.

Following their arrest, the accused were produced before the court and subsequently remanded to the Coimbatore Central Prison. This incident highlights the ongoing efforts of the local police to curb drug-related activities in the city.

The successful operation underscores the importance of public cooperation in combating illegal drug trade. Authorities continue to urge citizens to report any suspicious activities related to drug trafficking or sale in their neighborhoods.
