According to police reports, Gopal, a resident of Kovilpalayam, visited the ATM near the old post office around 7 am to withdraw money. Upon entering the ATM kiosk, he noticed a suspicious-looking young man inside. The ATM machine was not functioning, and the suspect was holding four UPS batteries typically used in ATM machines.

Gopal questioned the man, asking if he was there to repair the machine. The suspect's contradictory responses raised further suspicion. Acting quickly, Gopal, with the help of nearby residents, apprehended the suspect and handed him over to the Kovilpalayam police.

During the investigation, the police identified the suspect as Senthilkumar, a 45-year-old daily wage laborer from Narayanasamy Layout. He was subsequently arrested for attempting to steal the ATM batteries.

This incident highlights the importance of public vigilance in preventing crimes. The Kovilpalayam police have commended Gopal's quick thinking and the community's swift action in apprehending the suspect. Authorities are urging residents to remain alert and report any suspicious activities around ATMs and other public facilities.
