Stalin Accuses BJP Government of Withholding Funds for Major Projects in Tamil Nadu

Chief Minister M.K. Stalin alleges that the BJP government is withholding funds for Metro Rail and other vital projects in Tamil Nadu. He launched the rural extension of 'Makkaludan Mudhalvar' scheme in Dharmapuri district on Thursday.

Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Thursday accused the BJP-led central government of withholding funds for major projects in Tamil Nadu, including the Metro Rail, following the party's defeat in the Lok Sabha elections in the state.

Speaking at the launch of the rural extension of the 'Makkaludan Mudhalvar' scheme in Dharmapuri district, Stalin said, "The Centre had failed to rise above likes and dislikes; there was not a single major project the Centre had sanctioned for Tamil Nadu in the last 10 years." He urged the Union Government to "learn a lesson at least now" on behalf of the people of Tamil Nadu.

The Chief Minister highlighted the DMK government's commitment to implementing welfare projects regardless of voting patterns, while accusing the opposition of running a smear campaign out of jealousy. He emphasized that the state government was following the path laid out by former Chief Ministers C.N. Annadurai and M. Karunanidhi, focusing on understanding and working for the people.

Stalin also pointed out the success of the 'Mudhalvanin Mugavari' department in addressing public grievances. He stated that out of 68,30,281 petitions received, 66,25,304 had been redressed so far. In Dharmapuri district alone, 73,428 grievance petitions were addressed.

The event saw the Chief Minister commissioning 621 projects worth ₹444.77 crore and distributing welfare assistance amounting to ₹56.04 crore to beneficiaries. The rural extension of the 'Makkaludan Mudhalvar' scheme aims to resolve people's grievances through the coordination of 13 departments within 30 days of petition submission.

Stalin reiterated the government's commitment to making Tamil Nadu the best state in the country, attributing the success of the "Dravida Model" to the strong connection between the people and the government. He concluded by stating, "This is the reason for the success of the Dravida Model; the Union government has to learn a lesson at least now."
