Mother Dies in Tragic Accident While Picking Up Daughter from School in Tiruppur

In a shocking incident in Tiruppur's Amman Nagar, a mother was killed instantly when she fell under the rear wheels of a lorry while picking up her daughter from school on a two-wheeler.


Coimbatore: A routine school pick-up turned tragic in Tiruppur's Amman Nagar area when a mother lost her life in a freak accident while collecting her daughter from school. The incident, captured on CCTV, has left the community in shock as the Thirumuruganpoondi police investigate the case.

Sivagami, a resident of Thirumuruga Nagar near Vavipalaiyam in Tiruppur, was on her daily routine of picking up her daughter from a nearby school on her two-wheeler. As she reached Amman Nagar, she stopped her vehicle in front of a shop. Suddenly, another two-wheeler rider parked in front of the shop started his vehicle, causing Sivagami to lose balance and fall onto the road.



In a tragic turn of events, a lorry passing by at that moment ran over Sivagami with its rear wheels, killing her instantly at the scene. Eyewitnesses immediately alerted the Thirumuruganpoondi police, who rushed to the spot. The police recovered Sivagami's body and sent it to the government hospital for post-mortem examination.

Based on CCTV footage and witness statements, the police have arrested two individuals in connection with the accident. Muthuraj, the two-wheeler rider who allegedly caused Sivagami to lose balance, and Pavalamani, the lorry driver, have been taken into custody as part of the ongoing investigation.

Sivagami's husband, Selvam, works as a manager in a banian company in the area. The couple's daughter, who attends the local school, was waiting to be picked up when this unfortunate incident occurred. The local community has expressed deep sorrow over the loss of a mother in such a tragic and unexpected manner.

The Thirumuruganpoondi police are conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances leading to the accident. They are examining the CCTV footage closely to determine the exact sequence of events and to ascertain if any traffic rules were violated. The authorities have also urged local residents and motorists to exercise caution and follow traffic rules to prevent such heartbreaking incidents in the future.
