Tamil Nadu Transport Department Enhances Bus Services for Weekend Travel

The Tamil Nadu transport department is operating 925 special buses from Friday to Sunday, in addition to regular services, to accommodate increased weekend travel across the state.

Coimbatore: The Tamil Nadu State Transport Department has announced a significant increase in bus services for the upcoming weekend, aiming to facilitate smooth travel for passengers across the state. From Friday to Sunday, nearly 925 special buses will be operated in addition to the routine government bus services.

The bulk of these special services, approximately 600 buses, will operate from the Kalaignar Centenary Bus Terminus (KCBT) in Kilambakkam, Chennai. These buses will cater to major destinations including Madurai, Trichy, Coimbatore, Salem, and Tirunelveli on Friday and Saturday.

To further enhance connectivity, an additional 130 buses will depart from CMBT Koyambedu in Chennai over the same two-day period. These buses will serve routes to Nagapattinam, Hosur, Bengaluru, and Erode. Among these, about 30 buses will specifically operate on the Chennai-Tiruvannamalai route.

The transport department has also planned for increased services from other parts of the state. Approximately 200 additional buses will depart from Coimbatore, Tirupur, and Erode, heading towards Chennai and other districts in Tamil Nadu.

As of the announcement, 16,150 passengers have already made online reservations for their travel. The transport department encourages more passengers to take advantage of the online booking facility available through the official website www.tnstc.in or the TNSTC mobile application.

This temporary increase in bus services is expected to significantly ease travel for passengers during the weekend, especially considering the usual surge in travel demand during this period. The move demonstrates the transport department's commitment to ensuring comfortable and accessible public transportation for the citizens of Tamil Nadu.
