The event, held annually on July 5th for the past 47 years across various districts, pays tribute to the farmers who lost their lives in police firing during the farmers' rights struggle. This year's gathering in Coimbatore was led by Kandasamy, the State General Secretary of the non-partisan Farmers' Association.

Anwardeen, the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests and Chief Project Director, attended as a special guest. Participating farmers presented various demands to him, including measures to prevent wildlife from entering farmlands and increasing compensation for crop damages.

The meeting passed several resolutions, with a key demand being amendments to the Wildlife Act to allow farmers to shoot wild boars entering their lands. The event saw participation from hundreds of farmers from various districts across Tamil Nadu.

The farmers also urged for increased relief amounts for crop damages and stressed the need for effective action to prevent wildlife intrusions into agricultural areas.
