Pastor Prince Calvin Apologizes for Controversial Speech

Pastor Prince Calvin of CSI Emmanuel Church in Coimbatore's Uppilipalayam area has apologized for his controversial speech that allegedly promoted enmity between Hindu and Christian communities.

Coimbatore: Pastor Prince Calvin of the CSI Emmanuel Church in Uppilipalayam, Coimbatore, has issued a public apology for his controversial speech that allegedly promoted enmity between Hindu and Christian communities. The incident, which occurred during a prayer meeting on June 16, sparked outrage among Hindu organizations and led to a police complaint.

The CSI Emmanuel Church regularly broadcasts its prayer meetings on its Facebook page. During the June 16 service, Pastor Prince Calvin delivered a speech that was accused of inciting hostility between Hindu and Christian communities. The video of the speech was live-streamed on Facebook and YouTube, drawing widespread attention and criticism.

Following the incident, Hindu organizations condemned the pastor's remarks, and a complaint was filed with the Race Course Police by the Assistant Inspector. Subsequently, the police registered a case against Pastor Prince Calvin under four sections, including inciting animosity between castes, religions, and ethnicities.

In response to the growing controversy, Pastor Prince Calvin recently released a video apologizing for his remarks. In the video, he stated, "My comments have hurt the feelings of our Hindu brothers. As a result, some have filed a case against those remarks. It was not my intention to hurt anyone."

The pastor explained that he was speaking about cultural degradation and caste discrimination. He added, "I sincerely apologize to the Hindu brothers and sisters who were hurt by my speech and express my regret wholeheartedly."

While Hindu organizations had been demanding the arrest of Pastor Prince Calvin for his controversial speech, the pastor's public apology marks a significant development in the case. The incident has highlighted the sensitive nature of inter-religious discourse and the importance of responsible speech in maintaining communal harmony.

As the investigation continues, the local authorities are expected to consider the pastor's apology while proceeding with the case. The incident serves as a reminder of the need for religious leaders to exercise caution and promote understanding between different faith communities.
