Actress Athulya Ravi's House Maid Arrested for Theft in Coimbatore

Two women, including a house maid, were arrested for stealing a passport and Rs. 2,000 from actress Athulya Ravi's residence in Coimbatore. The theft occurred a few days ago, leading to a police investigation.


Coimbatore: In a recent development, the Coimbatore police have arrested two women, including a house maid, for allegedly stealing from the residence of popular actress Athulya Ravi. The theft occurred at the actress's home located on Marutham Road in Vadavalli, Coimbatore.

Athulya Ravi, who made her debut in the 2017 film "Kadhal Kan Kattudhe" and has since starred in various movies including "Yemali" and "Naadodigal 2", resides with her mother Vijayalakshmi in Coimbatore. A few days ago, the actress's passport and Rs. 2,000 in cash were reported missing from their home.

Upon discovering the theft, Vijayalakshmi filed a complaint at the Vadavalli Police Station. The police registered a case and began their investigation to identify the culprits.

During the course of the investigation, suspicion fell on Selvi (46), a house maid from Kulathupaalayam near Thondamuthur, who worked at Athulya's residence. When questioned by the police, Selvi provided inconsistent answers, raising further suspicion.

Upon continued interrogation, Selvi confessed to the crime, admitting that she had stolen the passport and money with the help of her friend. Following this confession, the police arrested Selvi and her accomplice, Subhashini (40).

The authorities have recovered Rs. 1,500 from the accused. Both women have been taken into custody as the investigation continues.
