TOCFL Mandarin Proficiency Test Sets New Record in Coimbatore

On June 29, a record-setting Mandarin proficiency test, TOCFL, was conducted at the Karpgam Academy of Higher Education in Coimbatore, with 101 participants, marking this as the largest batch in India.

Coimbatore: The Taipei Economic and Cultural Center (TECC) conducted the TOCFL (Test of Chinese as a Foreign Language) at Karpgam Academy of Higher Education on June 29, marking the 16th annual Mandarin proficiency examination in India. This year's event set a record with 101 students participating, making it the largest group to take the exam at the same time in the country.

The event was overseen by officials including Vice Chancellor P. Venkatachalapathi, Registrar Ravi, and Principal V. Parthasarathy. The TECC's goal through such tests is to boost Mandarin proficiency among Indian students, enhancing their career opportunities in global supply chains and with Taiwanese companies like Foxconn. There are currently 35 TECCs across India, providing Mandarin language training ranging from 3-6 months at the Taipei Tech Center. The TOCFL is benchmarked against international standards such as the CEFR and the ACTFL levels.
