Three Arrested in Annur for Obstructing Police Duties

In Annur, Coimathore, three men were arrested for obstructing two policemen from performing their duties by consuming alcohol in a public area and resisting vacating the spot.


Coimathore: In a recent law enforcement action, the Annur police detained three individuals accused of hindering police duties. The arrest occurred on Monday in the Coimathore district following an altercation on Sunday night.




The incident involved A. Kiruthikraj, 23, from Indhira Nagar at Akkaraithathapalli in Erode; G. Eswaran, 30, originally from Theni, currently residing at Cheyur near Avinashi; and S. Pratheesh, 37, from Muthulamada in Palakkad district, Kerala. They were caught by the police while consuming alcohol at a public spot in Pasur on Sathyamangalam Road.




According to the police, Head Constable Karthikeyan and Constable Azhaguraja approached the trio, requesting them not to drink in the public space and to depart the area. However, the accused resisted and engaged in an argument with the officers, thus obstructing them in performing their official duties. After some dispute, the men fled, only to be apprehended by the authorities the following day. They are currently under custody, facing charges for their actions against the police.
