Intensified Dengue Prevention Measures in Coimbatore Amid Rising Cases

Dengue fever cases are on the rise in Coimbatore, prompting intensified control measures by the local municipality, especially during the southwest monsoon season.

Coimbatore: The city of Coimbatore is witnessing an increase in dengue fever cases, leading to escalated preventive actions by the municipal administration. Health officials have reported an average of fifteen fever cases daily, with three confirmed as dengue. This uptick is attributed to the ongoing southwest monsoon season.

In response to the surge, a special ward has been set up at the Coimbatore Government Medical College Hospital for the treatment of affected individuals. Moreover, approximately 800 personnel have been deployed in dengue prevention tasks across the city. These workers are actively involved in areas identified with infected cases and confirmed dengue locations, ensuring targeted disease control practices.

Additionally, the health department is heightening awareness about the risks and preventive measures for dengue, aiming to curb the spread effectively. These efforts reflect the seriousness of the situation and the comprehensive approach being adopted to fight the mosquito-borne disease.
