Drop in Fish Prices Boosts Sales at Ukkadam Fish Market in Coimbatore

In Coimbatore, the Ukkadam Fish Market is witnessing a significant decrease in fish prices today, June 30, leading to increased customer footfall and purchases.

Coimbatore: The integrated fish market in Ukkadam has been experiencing fluctuations in fish prices and supplies over the past month. While fish supplies dwindled and prices initially increased, it had led to a reduced number of seafood enthusiasts visiting the market. However, today on June 30, there was a noticeable increase in the fish supply.

Subsequently, fish prices at the Ukkadam Fish Market have decreased, sparking heightened interest among seafood lovers. From the morning itself, the market has observed a surge in public attendance. On this day, the prices for various types of fish and shellfish have been considerably reduced. Some examples include mackerel priced at Rs 150 per kilogram, snapper at Rs 250, kingfish at Rs 500, sardine at Rs 300, anchovy at Rs 150, crab at Rs 200, squid at Rs 300, and anchovies at Rs 300 per kilogram. Comparing with the last month, there's a reduction of Rs 50 to Rs 100 per kilogram in fish prices today.

The sudden drop in prices has made it an opportune moment for buyers to stock up on their favorite seafood, resulting in a bustling marketplace this morning.
