Youth Arrested for Attacking Women Near Udumalai, Public Demands Immediate Action

Protests erupted near Udumalai on Dharapuram Road, where over 200 locals demanded the arrest of youths accused of attacking women. The protest lasted over an hour, disrupting traffic.

Coimbatore: In a recent development near Udumalai in the Madathukulam Karatholuvu area of Tiruppur district, a roadblock protest by local residents demanding the arrest of several youths accused of assaulting women has led to significant traffic disruptions. The protest, which took place last night around 10 PM on Dharapuram Road, saw over 200 individuals participate.

The demonstrators, outraged by recent attacks on women, obstructed the road and lay before a government bus in a dramatic plea for justice, prompting a swift response from local authorities.

Inspector Balamurugan from the Madathukulam police station engaged in discussions with the protestors, assuring them that the accused would be apprehended promptly. The assurance led to the dispersal of the crowd around 11:30 PM, ending the roadblock that had lasted for about an hour.

Earlier incidents involved Karthi, Vignesh, and Vikram who allegedly assaulted Arunkumar, the nephew of a local resident Karuppasamy, and issued death threats to women in the household. The situation escalated further when the accused, known to have previous criminal records, reportedly attacked women again recently, sparking outrage and the subsequent protest.
