DMDK Urges Immediate Action Against Illicit Liquor and Ganja Sales in Tamil Nadu

DMDK members filed a complaint with Coimbatore District Collector demanding an immediate stop to illicit liquor and ganja sales, alleging DMK government's complicity. They also sought CBI investigation into illicit liquor cases.

Coimbatore: In a significant political push against illicit activities, members of the Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) dressed in black shirts, submitted a petition to the Coimbatore District Collector, demanding urgent governmental action against the rampant illicit liquor and ganja sales in Tamil Nadu.

They claim these activities occur with the implicit support of the reigning DMK government.

Speaking to reporters, a representative from DMDK stressed the necessity for immediate governmental intervention to halt these illegal sales statewide. The party also calls for the immediate resignation of the Prohibition Minister, Muthusamy, holding him accountable for 63 deaths caused by illicit liquor consumption under his watch. Additionally, DMDK demands that all illicit liquor cases be transferred to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for a comprehensive probe, alleging that all illicit liquor factories are operated by individuals linked with the ruling party. They have urged the District Collector to issue immediate orders to shut down these factories.
