TNAU to Establish Satellite Campuses in Ghana and Nigeria, Expanding its International Footprint

Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) in Coimbatore is set to launch satellite campuses in Ghana and Nigeria as part of its international expansion. Vice-Chancellor V. Geethalakshmi highlights global initiatives and achievements.


Coimbatore: Tamil Nadu Agricultural Post University (TNAU) is set to establish satellite campuses in Ghana and Nigeria, marking a significant step in its aim to become a globally recognized institution. Vice-Chancellor V. Geethalakshmi announced the expansion that will allow TNAU to enroll students from various countries.

These new campuses are part of TNAU's broader strategy to internationalize its education and research. The university has initiated numerous programs to give its faculty and students a global perspective. Notably, it has collaborated with Dalhousie University in Canada to offer dual degree programs, with 53 students already receiving dual degrees. Additionally, 64 final-year undergraduate students have completed two-month internships at institutions in Canada, Netherlands, Sweden, and the UK, aiming to enhance their skills for employment and entrepreneurship.

The efforts to globalize TNAU's offerings also include the recruitment of 53 international educators as Adjunct Faculty. The university is now ranked between 51 - 100 in the World University Ranking for Innovation in Industrial Applications. Nationally, TNAU is considered a leading choice for postgraduate and doctoral studies in agriculture.

In the year 2023, TNAU has received five patents, 34 design patents, two copyrights, and two Geographic Indicator tags. The Vice-Chancellor also noted that TNAU secured funding for 271 projects totaling ₹62.15 crores during the year, underlining the university’s commitment to advancing agricultural education and research on a global scale.
