New Iron Pipeline Installed to Ensure Water Flow to Ukkadam Periyakulam Amid Monsoon Rains in Coimbatore

Coimbatore district administration installs new iron pipeline across the inlet channel to Ukkadam Periyakulam to ensure water flow, as monsoon rains intensify across the region, particularly in Valparai.

Coimbatore: The Coimbatore district administration has taken a significant step to manage water resources during the ongoing monsoon season by installing a new iron pipeline across the inlet channel to Ukkadam Periyakulam. This development was announced by Coimbatore Commissioner M Sivaguru as part of the administration's ongoing efforts to ease daily life for residents during the monsoon period.

The newly laid iron pipeline is set to play a crucial role in ensuring a steady flow of water to Periyakulam, one of the city's important water bodies. This infrastructure upgrade comes at a particularly relevant time as Coimbatore district is currently experiencing intense monsoon rainfall.

Commissioner Sivaguru highlighted that the monsoon rains are lashing many parts of Coimbatore district, with the Valparai area receiving the major share of precipitation. The heavy rainfall in Valparai, known for its tea plantations and located in the Western Ghats, underscores the importance of efficient water management systems in the district.

The installation of the new pipeline is expected to ensure a consistent flow of water to Ukkadam Periyakulam, enhancing the lake's capacity to receive and store rainwater. This measure is part of the district administration's broader strategy to mitigate potential flooding issues and ensure optimal utilization of monsoon rains.

As the monsoon season progresses, the district administration remains vigilant, with this new infrastructure addition being just one of several measures being implemented to manage the increased water flow. The effectiveness of this new pipeline in improving water management at Ukkadam Periyakulam will be closely observed in the coming weeks as the monsoon continues.

This update from Commissioner Sivaguru serves to highlight the ongoing efforts by the district administration to ease daily life during the monsoon season, demonstrating a proactive approach to urban water management in Coimbatore.
