Man Arrested for Threatening Witness in Murder Case in Puliyakulam, Coimbatore

In Coimbatore, a man was arrested for threatening a murder case witness in Puliyakulam. The accused, Sanmugam, confronted the witness, Celina, warning her against testifying in court.


Coimbatore: In a significant development in an ongoing murder case in Puliyakulam, Coimbatore, local police have arrested Sanmugam (25), a laborer from Ammankulam Kandasamy Lay-out, for allegedly threatening a witness. The case dates back to 2019 when Celina's son, Leo Martin, was murdered. Siblings Infant Raj and Sanmugam were arrested in connection to the murder but were later released on bail.


The ongoing trial in a Coimbatore court took a serious turn when Sanmugam allegedly accosted Celina and her nephew while riding to a local diner on June 24. During the confrontation, Sanmugam reportedly threatened Celina, instructing her not to testify in court about the murder.


Following the incident, Celina filed a complaint at the Ramanathapuram Police Station, leading to Sanmugam's arrest on charges of threatening a witness. The police have officially registered a case of murder intimidation, underscoring the ongoing challenges in the legal resolution of the case.
