Edappadi K. Palaniswami Criticizes Government's Response to Incidents and Illegal Alcohol Deaths

Edappadi K. Palaniswami criticized the handling of a spurious alcohol case from last year where action wasn’t taken despite complaints. He also condemned the delayed response in treating victims.

Coimbatore: In a scathing criticism towards the handling of a past illicit liquor death case, former Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami voiced his concerns about the actions, or lack thereof, following serious incidents. "First, there are bold claims; after the incident, everything is left as it is; the CBCID had already investigated the prior incident; what became of that case?" questioned Palaniswami during a press meeting.

Highlighting the lack of transparency and action, Palaniswami noted, "No clue who all were arrested in last year's illicit liquor death case; even after complaints from Kallakurichi AIADMK MLA, no actions were taken." He sternly accused DMK officials of playing a significant role in the rampant drug trafficking across Tamil Nadu, not just in Kallakurichi.

Discussing the public health management, Palaniswami remarked that if doctors had been brought in from Chennai, many lives might have been saved. He criticized the former administration's response to the illicit liquor deaths as "stomach pain and diarrhea were outright lies told by the former officer in charge."
