Attempted Burglary at Jewelry Store in Savithri Nagar, Coimbatore; Suspect Arrested

In Coimbatore, a man attempting to steal from a jewelry store in Savithri Nagar was arrested following an overnight debacle. The incident was reported by a workshop worker.


Coimbatore: A man was arrested on June 19 after attempting to burglarize a jewelry store in Savithri Nagar. The suspect, identified as Mahendran, 52, had been working as a workshop worker at the store and stayed overnight on June 17.


During the night, he heard noises of someone breaking in. Upon checking, he encountered the intruder who then tried to flee. Thankfully, Mahendran's alertness and noises foiled the burglary attempt. Locals rushed to the scene, but the suspect had already escaped.


Following a complaint filed by Mahendran at the Selvapuram police station, police investigated surveillance footage and identified the suspect as Muthukumar, 38, from Rajapalayam. He was arrested shortly thereafter.
