In Coimbatore's Boluvampatti near Muttathuvayal, a clash occurred between Isha supporters and local resident S.N.Subramanian, who filed a case against an electric cremation platform constructed by Isha Foundation.

Coimbatore: A confrontation has emerged in Coimbatore’s Boluvampatti near Muttathuvayal over the electric cremation platform built under the name "Kaala Bhairavar Thagana Mandapam" by Isha Foundation. Local resident S.N. Subramanian has lodged a legal complaint against the platform, citing environmental concerns and its proximity to residential areas and water bodies, prompting a court directive for an immediate investigation by Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board officials.

The situation escalated when a fact-finding team comprising members from Thanthai Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam and Velliangiri Protection Movement was reportedly blocked by over 50 Isha Foundation staff and supporters from entering the site on June 14. The situation turned confrontational, leading to the police intervention at the scene. During the chaos, a vehicle window was smashed, adding to the tension.

Further, following the altercation, both parties lodged complaints at the Alandurai Police Station, leading to an ongoing investigation by the police based on the grievances reported. The conflict highlights the ongoing debates over the establishment of such facilities in proximity to populated and ecologically sensitive zones.
