BJP State Secretary A.P. Muruganandam Receives Death Threats, Reports to Coimbatore Police

BJP State Secretary A.P. Muruganandam reports to Coimbatore City Police Commissioner's office about receiving death threats on Facebook, depicting a heightened sense of lawlessness post-election.

Coimbatore: In a disturbing development, BJP State Secretary A.P. Muruganandam has lodged a complaint with the Coimbatore City Police Commissioner's office stating that he has been receiving death threats via Facebook. According to Muruganandam, unidentified individuals have threatened to "cut him up” in a manner akin to slaughtering cattle.

Muruganandam expressed concerns over the deteriorating law and order situation since the elections concluded. He highlighted an incident in Krishnagiri where images of Annamalai were disgracefully attached to cattle and butchered in public, stating such actions not only malign individuals but also instill significant fear amongst party members. Despite lodging a complaint in Krishnagiri, the perpetrators have not been arrested.

This escalation of threats on social media has alarmed the BJP leader, prompting him to seek an immediate investigation and action against the anonymous accusers. Muruganandam criticized the apparent political undercurrents driving these threats and lamented the absence of direct political confrontation, indicating a severe misuse of social platforms for intimidation.

Reflecting on the broader implications, he warned that if such violent rhetoric and actual assaults go unchecked, Tamil Nadu might face significant political turmoil. The incidents report a troubling trend of politicizing law enforcement processes, which could severely impact the state's governance and law and order situation if not promptly addressed.
