Two Individuals Arrested in Coimbatore for Selling Ganja Infused Chocolates

On May 28, police in Coimbatore arrested two individuals in separate incidents for possessing and attempting to sell ganja infused chocolates. The operations were part of efforts to make the city drug-free.


Coimbatore: In a continued crackdown to eliminate narcotics from the city, Coimbatore police have significantly ramped up their efforts.

On the morning of May 28, based on a tip-off, police conducted raids near Madukkarai Market where they apprehended Vedprakash Sonkar, aged 30, from Uttar Pradesh for allegedly selling ganja-infused chocolates. Approximately 5 kilograms of the illicit chocolates were confiscated from his possession.

In a related incident on the same day, the special task force conducted a raid in Sethupalayam area where they arrested 23-year-old Mani, son of Pichai Pandi, who is a resident of the area. He was reportedly found in possession of 1.2 kilograms of ganja.

The arrests were made in a bid to realize the vision of a drug-free Coimbatore. The crackdown is part of a city-wide campaign against the illegal drug trade.
