Intensified Inspection of Air Horns in Coimbatore Buses

In Coimbatore, traffic police are cracking down on the use of loud air horns in buses, removing them, and fining the operators.

Coimbatore: The crackdown on the use of high-volume air horns in buses is intensifying across Tamil Nadu, following a state government order prohibiting such devices. Traffic police have been actively conducting inspections and removing these horns, fining the buses found non-compliant.

On May 25th, under the supervision of Coimbatore City Law and Order Police Commissioner Stalin, a major inspection was carried out near the Gandhipuram bus station. During this operation, police removed air horns and musical horns from several buses.

Additionally, these buses were fined Rs. 1,000 for each violation.

Alongside this, inspections were also done to check if drivers and conductors were under the influence of alcohol using advanced technological devices.

The penalties stipulated by the Tamil Nadu government are severe, enforcing a fine of Rs. 1,500 for using air horns while driving, and an alarming Rs. 10,000 when used while stationary. These strict measures aim to regulate noise pollution and ensure public tranquility.
