Summer Rains Cause Floods at Noyyal River, Coimbatore

Due to the summer rains, significant flooding has occurred at the Chithiraichavadi of Noyyal River in Coimbatore. Residents swim joyously, unaware of potential dangers.

Coimbatore: Recent heavy summer rains have led to significant flooding at the Chithiraichavadi area along the Noyyal River, a critical water source for the region. Despite warnings, families have been seen swimming and enjoying the water, blissfully ignorant of the risks posed by the rising levels.

The impact is twofold in Coimbatore; while the intense sunlight raises temperatures above 30 degrees Celsius during the day, evenings see a sharp rise in rainfall, alleviating the daytime heat. This variation has led residents to seek relief in nearby water bodies throughout the day despite the fluctuating weather conditions and potential health risks.
