Mettupalayam to Ooty Mountain Train Service Resumes Today After Temporary Suspension

The UNESCO-recognized mountain train service between Mettupalayam and Ooty resumes today after a 4-day suspension due to a landslide caused by heavy rains between Kallar and Adderly stations.

Coimbatore: The famed mountain train service, connecting Mettupalayam and Ooty, which holds UNESCO recognition, is back on track today. The service had been suspended since May 18 due to a landslide and falling rocks that damaged the tracks between Kallar and Adderly stations. This disruption was caused by continuous heavy rainfall. After four days of repair and clearance work, the train service recommences, bringing joy to tourists keen to experience the scenic journey through the hills.

Tourists were seen boarding the train with enthusiasm, as the service is popular for its picturesque views and the unique experience it offers. The resumption of this mountain rail service is expected to boost local tourism, which had been momentarily impacted by the unforeseen natural event.
