Three Arrested for Selling Ganja Near Karumathampatti Bus Stop in Coimbatore

On May 20, 2024, three individuals were arrested near the Karumathampatti bus stop in Coimbatore for allegedly selling ganja, seizing 14 kilograms worth Rs 1,40,000.


Coimbatore: In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, the Coimbatore city police arrested three men for allegedly selling ganja near the Karumathampatti bus stop. The arrests were made as part of Superintendent Badrinayaranan's ongoing campaign to create a drug-free Coimbatore.

According to information received by police, a special team performed vehicle checks near the bus stop. During the operation, they arrested Selvam, son of Karuppa Devar from Theni, Ilayaraja son of Pandiyan, and Praveen son of Murugan.



The police seized 14 kilograms of ganja valued at approximately Rs 1,40,000 from their possession.

Further investigation revealed that the suspects had transported the cannabis from Andhra Pradesh using buses for the purpose of selling it in Tamil Nadu.

The arrested individuals have been remanded to judicial custody pending further proceedings. Superintendent Badrinayaranan emphasized the commitment of the police force to combat drug peddling and ensure a safer community environment.
