Coimbatore: In a solemn visit, former Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami visited the residence of the late former Mayor Tha. Malaravan on May 20. He paid his respects by placing flowers on Malaravan's portrait and extended his condolences to the bereaved family.

During his interaction with the media, Palaniswami recounted the accomplishments of Malaravan during his tenure as the Mayor of Coimbatore and as a two-time legislative assembly member. He applauded Malaravan for spearheading development projects that significantly benefited the city of Coimbatore. Following his remembrance, Palaniswami addressed concerns regarding water management issues, highlighting various inter-state and regional challenges that affect water supply to Tamil Nadu.

He condemned the efforts by neighboring states to construct dams on rivers which could hinder the water supply essential for agriculture and drinking purposes in Tamil Nadu. Palaniswami urged the Tamil Nadu government to take immediate legal and actionable steps to ensure the state receives its rightful share of water. Additionally, he criticized both the ongoing projects by other states and the Election Commission's handling of the recent legislative assembly election, claiming discrepancies in vote counts. He emphasized that AIADMK achieved significant victories in various constituencies across Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.

Palaniswami’s statements underline the political and environmental challenges that face the region, stressing the importance of strategic water management and fair electoral practices.
