Heavy Rainfall Damages Bus Shelter Opposite Singanallur ESI Hospital in Coimbatore

On May 18, a bus shelter opposite Singanallur ESI Hospital in Coimbatore collapsed due to heavy rains and strong winds. Fortunately, no injuries were reported at the site.


Coimbatore: The city experienced intense summer showers today, particularly affecting various regions from 3 PM onward. The heavy rainfall led to flooding that resembled streams on the streets, and some areas witnessed trees falling. Notably, a bus shelter positioned opposite the ESI Hospital in Singanallur succumbed to the severe weather conditions, collapsing due to the combination of heavy rain and strong winds. This incident highlights the infrastructure vulnerabilities during extreme weather. Luckily, there were no bystanders at the location when the shelter fell, preventing any potential injuries.



The local authorities are currently assessing the damage and planning necessary repairs to ensure the safety of commuters and pedestrians in the affected area.
