Recent Rainfall Statistics Released in Coimbatore

The Disaster Management Department released rainfall data for Coimbatore, detailing measurements across different locales following recent showers that cooled the region.


Coimbatore: Over the past few days, pre-monsoon showers have brought much-needed relief to the residents of Coimbatore, cooling down the soaring temperatures. The Disaster Management Department today provided a detailed report of the rain recorded across various areas of the district on May 18th. According to the report, the Coimbatore Airport area received 41.30 mm of rainfall, while the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University recorded 27 mm. Other notable measurements include Periyanaickenpalayam with 21.4 mm, Mettupalayam 30.5 mm, and Bhavani Sagar Dam at a significant 170 mm.



Minor showers were noted in Annur at 4.2 mm and South Coimbatore regions at 4 mm, while Sulur received 33 mm. Noteworthy was Thondamuthur with 50 mm, Siruvani foot hills at 24 mm, and the highest recorded in Azhiyar at 51 mm. Other areas such as Pollachi and Pothanur railway station received lesser amounts, 6 mm and 10 mm respectively. Overall, the district averaged 26.33 mm of rain, summing up to a total of 605.6 mm across Coimbatore. This detailed measurement helps in assessing the water level increases and planning accordingly for any required disaster management strategies.
