Coimbatore Man Sentenced for Child Sexual Assault in 2022 Case

Coimbatore, May 8: 44-year-old Ravi Kumar sentenced to 7 years imprisonment and fined Rs 7,000 in a 2022 case of sexual assault on a 7-year-old girl at a special POCSO court.


Coimbatore: In a significant legal proceeding, the Coimbatore special POCSO court has delivered its final verdict on a distressing case involving the sexual assault of a 7-year-old girl in 2022. Ravi Kumar, aged 44, was formally charged at the Chettipalayam police station following the incident.

The investigation and trial were conducted under the guidance of Judge Kulasekaran, who, concluding the case proceedings on May 8, sentenced Kumar to 7 years in prison and imposed a fine of Rs 7,000. The case highlights continued efforts to address and penalize incidents of sexual violence against minors within the district.
