Over 100 Participants Engage in Kummi Dance Event in Tiruppur to Promote Environmental Awareness

In Tiruppur, more than a hundred people, including women and children, participated vibrantly in a Kummi dance event organized to emphasize the importance of protecting the Noyyal River from pollution.


Coimbatore: Tiruppur witnessed a unique cultural event as over 100 participants, primarily women and children, assembled to perform the traditional Kummi dance at the Muthaiyan Temple area in Thenampalayam. The event aimed to raise awareness about the preservation of the Noyyal River and to prevent chemical pollutants from contaminating it.


The "Samathuva Kummi" organized by the Velavan Kummi Research Center garnered attention by emphasizing the significant role of traditional arts in environmental advocacy. Dressed in matching colors, the participants energetically showcased their dance skills, drawing not only locals but also notable personalities such as MLA Selvaraj and Mayor Dineshkumar, who attended as special guests.
