Intensive Preparations at Polling Stations in Valparai Ahead of Parliamentary Elections

Ahead of the upcoming parliamentary elections, intensive efforts are underway to prepare polling stations in Valparai, with the deployment of security and amenities to ensure a smooth voting process.

Coimbatore: As the parliamentary elections approach, Valparai is witnessing rigorous preparations at its polling stations to facilitate an orderly voting process. Located within the Pollachi parliamentary constituency, the upper region of Valparai consists of approximately 68 polling stations, which are now under stringent security by the police force.

Election officer Vasudevan highlighted the numerous facilities arranged at these centers to accommodate the needs of voters, including drinking water, bathrooms, and transportation for the elderly and differently-abled. Notably, all essential amenities such as wheelchairs have been provided, and backup voting machines are ready in case of any malfunctions.

In Valparai constituency, there are about 197,950 registered voters, comprising 94,127 male voters, 103,800 female voters, and 23 belonging to the third gender. Moreover, 324 personnel have been appointed at polling stations to ensure the proceedings run seamlessly. A robust security arrangement involving paramilitary forces and police is in place, primarily to ward off any potential threats from wildlife in areas like Shekkalmudi, Manampalli, Shakthi, and High Forest where increased protection has been implemented.

Officials are urging all eligible voters to fulfill their democratic duties by casting their votes without fail on election day.
