Coimbatore Sees Large Rally for 100% Voter Turnout Ahead of Parliamentary Elections

Over 500 participants joined a voter awareness rally in Coimbatore, advocating for 100% voter turnout for the upcoming April 19 parliamentary elections. The event was initiated by Deputy Commissioner Selvasurabi with an aim to boost voter engagement.

Coimbatore: In an effort to enforce 100% voter turnout ahead of the parliamentary election on April 19, over 500 men and women participated in a 'Voter Awareness Vehicle Rally' in Coimbatore today. The rally was organized by the MMK Group under the MK Foundation's banner.

Deputy Commissioner of Coimbatore, Selvasurabi, inaugurated the event in the presence of MMK Group's leader MV Manikandan by hoisting a flag. The participants started their rally at Nehru Stadium and proceeded through Avinashi Road, passing by the LIC office towards Huzur Road and the Race Course, before looping back to Nehru Stadium.

MK Group's leader Manikandan emphasized on the importance of full voter participation stating, "In previous elections held in Coimbatore, we have seen a voter turnout of only 70% to 75%. We are investigating why the remaining 25% to 30% of eligible voters are not participating and are providing transportation facilities to aid them in voting, yet it is crucial to boost awareness on the necessity to vote."

An oath was taken by all participants in the form of a human chain to commit to voting, and all were awarded certificates of participation.
