BJP Members Accused of Intimidating Powerloom Owners in Coimbatore

In Coimbatore's Palladam, BJP members reportedly harassed powerloom owners ahead of a meeting with TRB Raja, sparking condemnation and highlighting DMK's support for the industry.

Coimbatore: In a recent event in Palladam, within the Coimbatore Parliamentary constituency, BJP members have come under scrutiny for allegedly intimidating local powerloom owners. The incident occurred ahead of a scheduled meeting between the powerloom owners and TRB Raja, the Minister responsible for the parliamentary constituency. According to reports, BJP members questioned the owners' intent in meeting TRB Raja, leading to a verbal altercation. The situation escalated when TRB Raja, informed of the potential conflict, decided to leave the location to avoid any harm to the powerloom owners' association.

Understanding the gravity of the situation, the powerloom owners confronted the BJP members, questioning their lack of support over the past ten years and expressing their continued allegiance to DMK, citing DMK's provision of 1000 units of free electricity as a significant factor in their support.

The owners proceeded to meet with TRB Raja at the initially planned location, expressing their disapproval of the BJP's tactics and spending a considerable time discussing their concerns. Local discussions in Palladam now revolve around how the Minister's patient approach successfully averted a potential conflict, attributing the incident to an alleged attempt by BJP to create problems ahead of the elections.
