Coimbatore Returning Officer Approves Debate Event by Chanakyaa Channel Following High Court Directive

The Returning Officer for Coimbatore constituency has sanctioned a debate event by Rangaraj Pandey's Chanakyaa YouTube channel in Coimbatore city, following a directive from the Madras High Court.

Coimbatore: The Returning Officer of the Coimbatore parliamentary constituency has granted permission to Rangaraj Pandey's Chanakyaa YouTube channel to conduct a debate in Coimbatore city on Sunday. This permission comes in light of the orders issued by the Madras High Court earlier today.

The event, which is to take place at Suguna Auditorium, Nehru Nagar, has been given the green light with several conditions to ensure it adheres to public order and the Model Code of Conduct. The Returning Officer, Kranthi Kumar Pati, IAS, has stipulated that the event should be videographed, police bandobast may be charged to the organizers, and the content of the debate should be balanced and not affect the fair play among contesting candidates.

The event named "KALAM 2024" is expected to proceed without impacting the level playing field for candidates in the forthcoming general elections. This decision ensures that while public discourse and debate are encouraged, they must not skew the electoral process.
