A meeting was held under the leadership of Coimbatore District Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati on 3rd April to discuss measures for providing uninterrupted drinking water supply across Coimbatore during the summer season.
Coimbatore: Addressing the critical issue of water scarcity during the summer, a pivotal meeting was convened on 3rd April 2024, under the stewardship of Coimbatore District Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati.

The meeting aimed at coordinating efforts among various departments to ensure an uninterrupted drinking water supply across all parts of Coimbatore District during the summer months.

The meeting saw the participation of notable officials including Municipal Commissioner Sivaguruprabhakaran, Additional Collector (Development) Swetha Suman, and Pollachi Sub-Collector Kethrin Saranya.District Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati emphasized the need for preemptive measures to mitigate water scarcity in Coimbatore District. Instructions were given to Municipal, Town Panchayat, and Village Union officials to ensure that the drinking water supplied by Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage Board reaches every nook and corner of the district. Officials were tasked with conducting inspections to ensure water reaches all targeted households, and to urgently repair any leaks, bursts, and faults in water pipes and electric motors, ensuring a continuous supply of safe drinking water.
Additionally, the meeting underscored the necessity to monitor private borewells for illegal water sales and identify areas requiring additional water supply to arrange for water distribution via trucks. The Collector also highlighted the importance of public awareness campaigns about water needs and conservation in public spaces.
