Southern Railway Announces Special Train Service Between Coimbatore and Chennai to Ease Weekly Congestion

To alleviate the weekly congestion, Southern Railway has introduced a special train service between Coimbatore and Chennai, commencing on March 31, ensuring travelers an additional option during peak times.


Coimbatore: In a recent announcement made by the Southern Railway on March 29, a special train service has been launched between Coimbatore and Chennai, considering the weekly crowd congestion.

The service aims to provide relief to regular commuters by offering an additional travel option.According to the details, the special express train, numbered 06050, will depart from Coimbatore at 11:30 PM on March 31 and is scheduled to arrive at Chennai Central at 8:30 AM the next day.

In the return direction, train number 06049 will leave Chennai Central at 10:20 AM on April 1 and reach Coimbatore at 8:25 PM on the same day.This special train will consist of 20 second-class sleeper coaches and 2 unreserved coaches, as confirmed by the Southern Railway. The initiative is expected to significantly ease the travel for many, especially during weekends when the demand peaks.
