Political Party Flags and Banners Removed in Dharapuram Ahead of Parliamentary Elections in Tamilnadu

Following the announcement of the parliamentary election dates, enforcement of election conduct rules leads to the removal of political party flags, banners, and murals across Tamil Nadu, including the removal of over 50 flagpoles in Dharapuram.

Coimbatore: With the parliamentary election date set for April 19 across all 39 constituencies in Tamil Nadu, the election code of conduct has been strictly implemented. As a result, various symbols of political allegiance, including party flags, banners, and murals, are being removed across the state.

In adherence to the election guidelines, municipal workers have been tasked with eradicating political imagery from public spaces. This includes the removal of murals of political leaders, party symbols, and flags that had been painted on public walls. Additionally, statues of political leaders are being obscured to maintain neutrality in the public domain.

In Dharapuram, near the old municipal office, significant efforts are underway to clean the area of political advertisements. Notably, statues of notable figures such as Anna, Gandhi, and Periyar, along with party murals and flags near the library at the 5-road intersection, are being cleared. The initiative has resulted in the removal of over 50 flagpoles in the vicinity of the old Dharapuram municipal office, leaving the area noticeably barren of party affiliations.

This sweeping removal campaign is part of the larger effort to ensure a fair and unbiased election process, reinforcing the importance of neutrality in public spaces during the election period.
