The conference aims to celebrate Tamil, a language that enjoys a unique distinction of combining classical literature, music, drama, and now, mathematical Tamil, shining globally as a rich cultural heritage.
Tamil language boasts of ancient origins, distinctiveness, universal appeal, high thought, and unique literary contributions, earning it the prestigious title of a classical language. The recognition of Tamil as a classical language was first proposed by Tamil scholar Parithimar Kalaignar and later realized by the efforts of Muthamizh Kavalar Kalaignar, who fulfilled the century-long dream of Tamils by securing this status.
Over the past three years, the Tamil Nadu government has been actively promoting Tamil scholarship by awarding various honors to distinguished Tamil scholars, preserving ancient Tamil culture, and showcasing it through exhibitions like the one in Keeladi, which narrates the literacy, civilization, and lifestyle of ancient Tamils. Following this, the Porunai Museum was established, adding another jewel to Tamil culture's crown.
The government's efforts to translate all foreign scholarly works into Tamil, as envisioned by Mahakavi Bharathi, span multiple disciplines such as science, engineering, medicine, technology, and agriculture.
