Minister S. Muthusamy Launches Free Travel Scheme for Women under Vidiyal Project

Minister S. Muthusamy initiated the Vidiyal project at Coimbatore's Anaikatti bus station on 13th March 2024, allowing women to travel for free on 5 suburban buses from Gandhipuram to Anaikatti.


Coimbatore: In a significant move towards empowering women, the Honorable Minister for Housing and Urban Development, S. Muthusamy, inaugurated the Vidiyal project at the Anaikatti bus station today, on 13th March 2024. Under this scheme, women can avail free travel on 5 suburban buses operating from Gandhipuram to Anaikatti. This initiative is expected to benefit many women by facilitating their commute and promoting gender equality in access to transportation.



Present at the event were several dignitaries including the Additional District Development Officer Swetha Suman IAS, the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation Coimbatore Division's Senior Director Joseph Dias, the Managing Director Sridharan, and the District Collector Govindan, highlighting the government's commitment to enhancing urban development and women's welfare.
