Coimbatore Airport Uses New Scooters for Cleaning Operations

Coimbatore Airport has introduced modern scooter vehicles for cleaning operations, marking a significant upgrade in maintaining cleanliness at Tamil Nadu's second major airport, serving over 25 lakh passengers annually.

Coimbatore: In a notable initiative to uphold cleanliness, Coimbatore Airport has employed advanced scooter vehicles for its cleaning operations. As Tamil Nadu's second major airport after Chennai, Coimbatore Airport is a crucial hub connecting cities like Chennai, Mumbai, Delhi, and Bangalore, as well as international destinations such as Sharjah, Singapore, and Sri Lanka, with more than 20 flights operating daily.

Not just Coimbatore, but also people from the Kongu region, including districts like Nilgiris, Tirupur, Erode, Namakkal, Salem, Dharmapuri, and Krishnagiri, benefit from the airport, with over 25 lakh individuals travelling annually. To ensure the airport's cleanliness and hygiene, the Airport Director, Senthil Valavan, has initiated rigorous measures to keep both the interior and exterior areas free from waste.

For this purpose, battery-operated vehicles have been purchased to remove trash and soil from the ground. Additionally, for cleaning high places like decorative glass, modern hydraulic battery vehicles are being utilized.

Recently, two new advanced scooters, resembling battery scooters, have been acquired to continuously clean the roads. These vehicles are equipped with cleaning mops in both the front and rear parts, and seats have been installed for operators to drive and clean simultaneously.

The initiative began earnestly on March 6 and aims to intensify the cleaning operations at the airport.

According to Airport Director Senthil Valavan, Coimbatore Airport welcomes thousands of passengers daily from both domestic and international destinations, making the cleanliness and sanitation of the premises paramount. Therefore, instructions have been given to maintain the cleanliness of both indoor and outdoor areas of the airport, for which two modern scooters have been purchased. Additionally, measures are being taken to control mosquito problems during the evening hours with fogging operations.

This innovative approach not only enhances the aesthetic appeal of the airport but also ensures a healthier and more pleasant environment for passengers and staff alike, underlining the airport's commitment to excellence in service and environmental stewardship.
