Coimbatore Municipal Corporation Commissioner Inspects Development Projects Worth Rs. 7.65 Crore

Coimbatore Municipal Corporation Commissioner, Mr. Ma. Sivaguru Prabhakaran, IAS, personally inspected various development projects underway in the central zones of Coimbatore, valued at Rs. 7.65 crore, urging officials to complete the projects swiftly and with quality.


Coimbatore: In an initiative to bolster the infrastructure of Coimbatore, Mr. Ma. Sivaguru Prabhakaran, IAS, the Municipal Corporation Commissioner, made a detailed inspection of several development projects currently in progress across the central zones of the city, on February 21, 2024. These projects, amounting to a total investment of Rs. 7.65 crore, aim to enhance the living standards and amenities for the residents.

During his visit, the commissioner reviewed the construction of a shelter for the homeless under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana - National Urban Livelihoods Mission, costing Rs. 1.40 crore, in the Kadalaikara Sandhu area within Ward No. 83. Additionally, he inspected the renovation of the Puliyakulam Verivada Municipal Primary School in Ward No. 66, which includes the library, laboratory, school rooftop, and building refurbishment, valued at Rs. 25.40 lakh.



Furthermore, development efforts at the Verivada Municipal Upper Primary School were discussed, focusing on curriculum activities with female students. The commissioner also visited the Municipal Middle School in Ward No. 82, Kotai Eswaran Koil Street, where an Anganwadi center and additional classrooms are being constructed under the East Coimbatore MLA Development Scheme and the Municipal General Fund, amounting to Rs. 19.50 lakh and Rs. 70 lakh respectively.



In addition to these, the construction of a secondary health center in the Rathinapuri Central Zone office premises, with an investment of Rs. 30 lakh, was part of the inspection. Efforts to enhance educational facilities continued with the inspection of the construction of a school auditorium and refurbishment works at the Rathinapuri Municipal Primary and Municipal Upper Primary Schools, budgeted at Rs. 95 lakh.



The series of inspections and evaluations underline the Coimbatore Municipal Corporation's commitment to accelerating development projects, ensuring timely completion while adhering to quality standards. The presence of Central Zone Chairperson Mrs. Meenalochani, council members Mrs. Muniyammal, Mr. Vairamurugan, Mrs. Chitra, Assistant Commissioner Mr. Senathilkumar, engineers, and health officials during the inspections highlights a collective effort towards urban development and welfare.
