90 percent Bus Operations Continue in Dharapuram Despite Strike

Dharapuram depot maintains 90 percent bus operations amidst the transport workers' strike, with demands for salary hikes and filling of vacancies being emphasized.

Coimbatore:

In Dharapuram, part of the Tirupur district, 90% of buses are running as usual from the local depot, despite a strike by transport workers. The depot manager has reported that operations are continuing with a majority of buses in service.

The workers' strike, which calls for salary increases, the filling of vacant positions, and the cessation of contractual employment practices, has not significantly impacted the Dharapuram region. Following the strike announcement, police security has been heightened around the Dharapuram bus station and depot to prevent any untoward incidents, with officers engaging in continuous monitoring.
