Assailants came in a bike and three cars and attacked the family of a girl’s lover and also abducted his uncle and assaulted him. Balasubramaniyam, a native of Kallimedu, who was involved in the attack, has been arrested and sent to jail.
Tirupur: A 22-year-old woman from Kovilvazhi in Tirupur district and Suryaprakash, a 23-year-old man from College Road, became acquainted with each other on Instagram and were in a relationship for the past two years.
In this case, the parents were shocked to see the girl missing since on Wednesday morning. They searched at several places and finally went to the house where Suryaprakash was staying at Ammapalayam near Palladam. The girl's parents later lodged a complaint with the Palladam police station about the incident.
Following this, the Palladam police acted swiftly and traced the woman and Suryaprakash and conducted an investigation. The woman was sent to Nallur police station under police protection as the spot where the incident took place comes under the jurisdiction of Nallur police station. Her lover and their relatives then followed them in the omnivan.
Meanwhile, when the omnivan was on its way to Arulpuram near Palladam, they came in a bike and three cars and intercepted them and brutally attacked the men and women.
Later, instead of the lover, their uncle Sathish Kumar was abducted in a van and assaulted. Palladam police rushed to the spot and rescued Manoj Kumar, Arunadevi, Krishnaveni, Thulasimani, Jothimani and Masilamani, who were seriously injured in the attack, and sent them to the hospital.
Balasubramaniyam, a native of Kallimedu, who was involved in the attack, has been arrested and sent to jail. Investigations have also revealed that the attack was carried out by the woman's family by organizing a mercenary force and attacking her lover.
Police are on the lookout for more than 15 people, including Anbu Ramesh and Selvakumar, an office-bearer of a prominent political party, who were the masterminds of the attack. Meanwhile, ramesh has several cases pending against him, including beating, kattapanchayat and human trafficking.
