Tirupur: The death of a cow after being attacked by a wild elephant in Kaattuppatti hill village near Udumalpet has created panic and grief among the people of the area.

Udumalai and Amaravathi forest ranges are located in the Anaimalai Tiger Reserve near Udumalai in Tirupur district. A large number of tribal people live in the hilly habitations of Thalinji, Thalinjivayal, Attumalai, Eesalthattu, Poruparu, Kodandur, Gurumalai, Mavadappu, Manjampatti, kaattuppatti, Keezhavayal, Karumutti, Poochakottamparai, Kulipatti and Mullupatti.

Their main occupation is agriculture. But due to water scarcity in the summer season, it is not possible to function effectively in cultivation work. An elephant came there and attacked a cow.
