Semmedu public petition seeks reopening of closed anganwadi centres

The Anganwadi Centre located on NGR Road in Semmedu village, which was under the Ikkarai Boluvampatti Panchayat of Thondamuthur Union in Coimbatore, has been closed. The centre had catered to over 30 children. Unfortunately, the centre had to be shut down due to a low number of children enrolling this year, leaving many children in Gandhi Colony without access to the anganwadi centre.

Coimbatore: The Anganwadi Centre on NGR Road in Semmedu village, which is part of the Ikkarai Boluvampatti Panchayat of Thondamuthur Union in Coimbatore, has now closed.

It has been reported that more than 30 children were learning at the anganwadi centre, but the anganwadi centre has now been closed down due to a lack of children. Due to this, the children in Gandhi Colony, NGR Road in Semmedu village have not been able to join the anganwadi centre this year.

Simultaneously, the supply of nutritious food for mothers and pregnant women in the region has been affected.

As a result, residents of the region petitioned the district collector's office to reopen the neighbourhood's anganwadi centre, which had been closed.

The district collector promptly took note of this and requested that the anganwadi centre be opened as soon as possible to benefit children, mothers, and pregnant women.
