Coimbatore: In a shocking incident, a CRPF jawan, who was on security duty near Thudiyalur in Coimbatore district, allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself with a gun over a family dispute.

Jagan (32) hails from Perumalkulam in Thoothukudi district.

He was engaged in security duty (in the custody of the kottar card guard) at the Central Reserve Training College (CRPF) located at Kathir Naickenpalayam near Thudiyalur.

He was working for the 77 Battalion A Company.

Meanwhile, a divorce case with his first wife is under trial in court. She got married for the second time last month.

Due to this, the family problem seems to have become bigger.

He came out of depression and was on security duty on Saturday afternoon. He shot himself in the neck for 2 rounds with an SLR rifle.

When he opened fire, the bullet went from neck to head. He died on the spot.

Periyanaickenpalayam DSP Namachivayam, Thudiyalur Inspector Rathinakumar and police rushed to the spot and conducted an investigation.

Following this, the police recovered Jagan's body and sent it to Coimbatore government hospital for post-mortem.

The police have also seized the gun shot by Jagan and have registered a case and are investigating further.
