Field level survey on coconut cultivation in Palladam - Information Minister's Participation

M P Saminathan, Minister of Information, and Tirupur District Collector took part in a field survey on pest disease and pest management in coconut at Peruntholuvu panchayat near Palladam.


Tirupur: The Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and The Tamil Nadu Agricultural University undertook a field survey on pest, disease, and fertilizer management in coconut in Peruntholuvu Panchayat, Pongalur Panchayat Union, Tirupur District.



The survey was conducted under the chairmanship of Information Minister M P Saminathan and in the presence of Tirupur District Collector Dr Vineeth.

The Government of Tamil Nadu is taking steps to protect the coconut saplings through various schemes and to provide better price to the farmers for their produce

Review meetings are being conducted to remove the disease-prone situation in coconut, which is a long-term crop. He said that 52 panchayats in Tirupur district have been selected under Kalaignar's All Village Integrated Agriculture Development Programme.

He also urged farmers to increase coconut yield using organic fertilizers.

Members of the Coconut Development Board, Joint Director of Agriculture Mariyappan, members of the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University Coconut Development Board and coconut farmers participated in the field survey.
