A youth named Vignesh was killed on the spot when a tipper truck hit a two-wheeler on the Pollachi-Udumalpet road, causing panic among the public as they blocked the road demanding the removal of the roadblock that led to the accident.

Coimbatore: A youth was killed when a tipper truck collided with a two-wheeler on the Pollachi-Udumalpet road.

Vignesh is from Suleeswaranpatti, which is near Pollachi. He works in a private industry on the Pollachi-Udumalpet route in Nallampalli.

Vignesh, who had arrived in Pollachi this afternoon for factory work, was riding his two-wheeler back to the factory in Nallampalli.

While he was on his way to Chinnampalayam on Udumalpet road, a tipper lorry coming from behind collided with Vignesh's two-wheeler and met with an accident. Vignesh, a youth, died on the spot when the two-wheeler hit a barricade on the left side of the road.

Meanwhile, the people of Chinnampalayam area staged a sit-in on the Udumalpet road demanding the removal of the iron barrier that was responsible for the accident as accidents were increasing in the middle of the service road on the Pollachi-Udumalpet national highway.

Traffic on the Pollachi-Udumalpet road was disrupted due to this and the police and regional transport officers who reached the spot later held talks with the protesting public.

Following this, the public abandoned the blockade and dispersed after being assured that steps would be taken to remove the iron barrier that was responsible for the accident.
